Low-E, or low-emissivity, glass was created to minimize the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that comes through your glass, without minimizing the amount of light that enters your home. Using Low-E glass in a double pane insulated window can increase your R value to 2.85 from .85 for a single pane window.
