Are Your Glass Windows & Doors Ready For Summer?

The year is already off to a warm start with April 2024 coming in as the 11th month in a row to be the hottest on record. So with Summer starting this month, it's a good time to inspect your insulated glass windows and doors.

Insulated glass units (IGUs) prevent heat loss through your glass doors and windows. The units consist of two panes of glass separated by an inert gas. The insulating layer provided by the gas between the windowpanes diffuses heat transfer. Most modern homes and buildings use insulated glass. But what are the signs that your windows are not working as they should?

Here are few things to look for:

  1. Foggy Windows with Moisture Between the 2 Panes.

  2. Drafts Around the Windows.

  3. Irregular Temperatures.

  4. Damaged Window or Door Frames.

  5. Windows that Are Hard to Open and Close.

If you have damaged glass windows or doors you can experience up to 30% energy loss.  So it is important to repair or replace damaged insulated glass, especially with the heat of Summer.Karsey Glass can replace damaged glass in a window or door or the whole window or door assembly if needed.  If you have damaged insulated glass in your home or business, contact the Glass Experts at Karsey Glass.
